MD Gov: O'Malley and Ehrlich Tied

Current Democratic Maryland Governor Martin O'Malley and former Republican Governor Bob Ehrlich are tied in the rematch of their 2006 race, according to a new poll from Rasmussen Reports.
In the survey of 750 likely Maryland voters, O'Malley and Ehrlich are even at 47 percent apiece. The survey includes "lean" voters. According to Rasmussen, these voters "initially indicate no preference for either of the candidates but answer a follow-up question and say they are leaning towards a particular candidate."
Campaign finance filings released Wednesday show that O'Malley topped Ehrlich in fundraising since the beginning of the year and has $4.5 million more on hand than his opponent. Still, Ehrlich attracted twice as many donations, which suggests that he may enjoy an enthusiasm advantage.
In their 2006 race for the governorship, then-Baltimore Mayor O'Malley topped Ehrlich, the state's first Republican governor since the 1960s, 53-46.
The poll was conducted on August 17 by Rasmussen Reports. The margin of error is four percentage points.
