FL: McCollum, Meek Regain Leads in New Poll

Establishment candidates Bill McCollum and Kendrick Meek have regained leads in their respective races for their party's nominations for Governor and Senate, according to a new Quinnipiac University poll.
Florida Attorney General Bill McCollum leads former health industry executive Rick Scott 44-35 in the GOP primary for Governor. Congressman Meek leads businessman Jeff Greene 35-28 in the Democratic primary for Senate, with former Miami Mayor Maurice Ferre earning six percent of the vote.
Florida voters head to the polls on Tuesday.
Scott and Greene, bolstered by their personal fortunes and their status as political "outsiders," enjoyed meteoric rises in some polls earlier this summer. However, both candidates have been dogged by questions about their pasts. The health care company Scott headed in the 1990s paid a large fine for Medicare fraud, and Greene has been forced to answer awkward questions about his relationships with celebrities such as former heavyweight boxing champ Mike Tyson and former Hollywood madam Heidi Fleiss.
Despite the shift back toward McCollum and Meek, the electorate remains in flux. Nineteen percent of Republicans and 29 percent of Democrats
remain undecided, and 32 percent of Republican voters and 39 percent of Democratic voters who name a candidate say they could still change their mind.
For this poll, Quinnipiac surveyed 807 likely Republican primary voters and 814 likely Democratic primary voters from August 11-16. The Republican primary survey has a margin of error of 3.5 percentage points, and the Democratic survey has a margin of error of 3.4 percentage points.
