NV Gov Poll: Sandoval +7

A new Las Vegas Review-Journal poll finds embattled Gov. Jim Gibbons down just 7 points to frontrunner Brian Sandoval in the GOP primary -- a much smaller margin than it's been in months past.

Sandoval 37 (-2 vs. last month)
Gibbons 30 (+7)
Montandon 7

University of Nevada, Reno political science professor Eric Herzik expressed surprise "at that much of a gain" for Gibbons, especially after the governor was caught on videotape earlier this week lying about whether a woman with whom he has been accused of having an affair had accompanied him on a trip to Washington, D.C.

In general election matchups, Sandoval leads Clark County Commission Chairman Rory Reid by 22 points, while Reid leads Gibbons.

Sandoval 51 - Reid 29

Gibbons 38 - Reid 42

The survey was conducted by Mason-Dixon Feb. 22-24 of 625 RV with a margin of error of +/- 4%.
