RNC Chair Running For Re-election

Republican National Committee chairman Mike Duncan announced his bid for re-election this morning.

"I am proud of RNC accomplishments in fundraising, technology, and grassroots over the past two years," Duncan said in a morning e-mail to RNC members. "More importantly, I am optimistic about the future opportunities of Republicans."

While Republicans have won three straight elections since Nov. 4 (Georgia Senate, Louisiana's 2nd and 4th districts), the party lost 20 House seats and seven Senate seats on Election Day -- something that could work against Duncan's re-election hopes.
