24k Votes To Count In AK

The Anchorage Daily News details where the Alaska Senate race stands as of today:

Elections workers today will count 24,000 votes from Anchorage, the Kenai Peninsula, Southwest and Southeast Alaska.

Senate race
As it stood before today's count began, Anchorage Mayor Mark Begich led Sen. Ted Stevens by 1,022 votes in the race for U.S. Senate.

Stevens: 137,937
Begich: 138,959

What happens after today's count?
Absentee ballots arrive from overseas through Wednesday.

When will it be final?
Week of Dec. 1.

Then what?
Recount if voters or the loser asks.
