Steele Announces RNC Chair Bid

GOPAC Chairman Michael Steele, the former Maryland lieutenant governor, announced his bid for chairman of the Republican National Committee last night on FOX News's "Hannity and Colmes." Steele became the second person this week to announce their intentions to run -- Michigan GOP Chairman Saul Anuzis announced earlier in the week.

"I want the gig," Steele said. "I'm ready to lead this party."

Steele lost his bid for Maryland's open Senate seat in 2006, losing out to then-Rep. Ben Cardin.
