Iowa was called quickly for Obama after the polls closed at 10 p.m. ET. This was a state the Obama campaign targeted all along. It was one of two states to switch its vote from Gore to Bush between 2000 and 2004 (New Mexico was the other, it also went for Obama), but with all the time Obama spent there during the primary season the campaign liked its chances.
