CBS News: Obama-Biden +8

rnclogo.gif ST. PAUL - CBS News is out with a new post convention survey (August 29-31, 781 RV) showing Obama receiving a 5-point bump, increasing his lead over McCain to eight points from three points two weeks ago:

Obama-Biden 48 (+3 vs. last poll taken August 15-19*)
McCain-Palin 40 (-2)
Undecided 9 (-1)

Overall Obama's lead over McCain is now up to 4.5% in the RCP National Average.

*Running mates not included.

Slicing the Demos: post convention, 22% of Clinton supporters are still indicating they'll vote for McCain, with Obama winning only 58% support. McCain is winning white men by 16 points (51-35) men overall are tied at 44% each. White women are tied at 43% each, but overall Obama is winning the women's vote by 14 points, 50-36. Obama and McCain are running even among party affiliations (winning 82 and 83% of their own parties support, respectively, and 10% each from the opposite party, but Obama is winning Independents by 6 points, 43 to 37.

Enthusiasm for Obama is up big after the DNC: 67% are now enthusiastic compared to 48% prior to Denver. Those enthusiastic about McCain remain unchanged at 25%
