Tracking the Tracks: Obama Dips

dnclogo2.gifDENVER - I wouldn't go putting too much stock in the first rounds of return from the overnight tracking polls, given that it's not clear how much of yesterday's sample took into account any of the events of last night. Nevertheless, the Obama campaign can't be happy to see the results from Rasmussen and Gallup this morning, if for no other reason that they represent fodder for pundits to continue to dissect why Obama isn't doing better.

Anyway, Gallup had the candidates tied yesterday at 45% each, today McCain edged ahead to a two point lead over Obama 46-44.

Rasmussen showed an even bigger overnight move. Yesterday Obama led McCain by 3 points, 48-45, today he shows the race tied at 46.

Overall, Obama leads McCain by 1.7% in the RCP National Average.
