The Mark Warner Infomercial

dnclogo2.gifDENVER - What a wonderful 20-minute infomercial Mark Warner just got to deliver to millions of Americans around the country. The speech was pretty light on praise of Obama, pretty light on criticisms of George Bush and John McCain, and heavy on self promotion and the details of Mark Warner's resume.

Sure, the speech he gave tonight mirrored the stump speech he was road testing two years ago before he started (and then almost inexplicably dropped out of) the race for President. Still, despite the fact he framed the election as a choice between the future and the past, it didn't seem to fit the moment.

Warner certainly didn't need to self promote, given that he's about 200 points ahead of Jim Gilmore in the race for the Senate. Obama, on the other hand, could have used more of a testimonial from the popular former governor of Virginia, where he's in a real battle with McCain to try and turn Old Dominion blue.
