MN Poll: Tight Race

A new SurveyUSA poll (August 13-14, 682 LV, MoE +/- 3.8%) in Minnesota shows Obama and McCain in a close battle for the battleground Midwestern state. This poll is the third in the last month showing Obama's lead less than 5 points; the last SurveyUSA poll, taken in mid-June, showed Obama leading by just 1 point. McCain is targeting Minnesota because John Kerry and Al Gore won it by just 3 points or less in the last two presidential elections. However, a Republican has carried the state just once since 1956 (in 1972).

Obama 47
McCain 45

Obama leads by 2.6 points in the RCP Average in Minnesota
