"Clinton aims to soothe delegates at Dem convention" (Steven Paulson, AP) - Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton is seeking a way for her delegates to be heard at the Democratic National Convention, telling supporters such a step will help unify a party that split between her and Sen. Barack Obama during their hard-fought nominating contest.

"Obama adviser blames McCain ad for poll dip" (Stephanie Kirchgaessner and Edward Luce, Financial Times) - A senior adviser to Barack Obama has blamed recent attack advertisements comparing the Democratic presidential hopeful to celebrities Britney Spears and Paris Hilton for a dip in Mr Obama's polls with voters.

"Possible McCain Running Mate Pawlenty Offers Ideas for Reforming Republicans" (John McKinnon and Douglas Belkin, Wall Street Journal) - Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, viewed as a possible running mate for Sen. John McCain, brought his ideas for reforming the Republican Party to Washington on Wednesday.

"So far, little change in usual campaign nastiness" (John McCormick, Chicago Tribune) - In a presidential campaign billed as "the maverick vs. the outsider," this was supposed to be a different sort of election. So far, however, the nastiness is just as intense as in previous contests, with tire gauges, pop stars and some choice adjectives being tossed about in recent days.
