Arrogance Alert

From CNN's Political Ticker:

Barack Obama told donors at a Monday night fundraiser just across the Potomac River from Washington that "the odds of us winning are very good."

Obama followed that by saying, "But it's still going to be difficult," though that isn't what's in CNN's headline and therefore it probably isn't what people will take away from the story.

Obama is factually correct: the odds are definitely in his favor. Right now Intrade has him at 63.1% to win, with McCain at 35.3%. But again, this isn't about facts, it's about perceptions. And the perception created by Obama using the phrase "the odds of us winning are very good," is that he's already measuring the drapes for the Oval Office.

If he keeps this sort of thing up it's bound to cause a backlash.
