McCain Camp Focuses On 'Inexperience'

About an hour after Barack Obama spoke from the Citadel in Amman, Jordan, the McCain campaign held a conference call with reporters highlighting the Illinois senator's "inexperience" on foreign policy. New Mexico Rep. Heather Wilson, Kansas Sen. Sam Brownback and senior foreign policy adviser Randy Scheunemann said that unlike Obama, John McCain has the experience to lead the country in -- and out of -- war.

"John McCain has shown and demonstrated in the most difficult of circumstances...his ability to lead troops as commander in chief and in foreign policy," Brownback said. "I don't think you're seeing near that...in the way Barack Obama has shown he could lead."

Scheunemann said Obama's 16-month troop redeployment plan "demonstrates both his inexperience and his ideological rigidity," and Wilson said Obama was "frighteningly inexperienced" on foreign policy. Brownback said that had the country followed Obama's lead in voting against the surge, it "would have produced mass expansion of terrorism globally."

It was also noted in the press briefing that John McCain would be able to bring the troops home before Obama, if conditions and commanders on the ground allowed for it.
