Here is how our local newspaper-tabloid hybrid covered the news of Jesse Jackson's remarks. I generally agree with the sentiment expressed here and here, which is that Jackson's remarks are probably helpful to Obama. Being attacked by Jesse Jackson certainly won't hurt him with white voters, and African-American voters will rally to his defense as well.

The only one hurt by the remarks is Rev. Jackson himself, which is why he gave something like 382 interviews yesterday trying to explain and repair the damage he'd done - not to Barack Obama but to his own reputation.

UPDATE: Leave it to Mickey to take a sharp, defensible, contrarian position defending the thrust of Jackson's point that Obama has been talking down to black people.
