Cantor Hits Obama On Iraq, Again

Four days after questioning how Obama could possibly not change his views on Iraq, Virginia Rep. Eric Cantor was back today on another conference call with reporters slamming Obama for doing just that.
"Barack Obama is a great politician, but he's a politician who's caught between a rock and a hard place, politically" -- the rock being his anti-war voting base and the hard place being the realities on the ground in Iraq, Cantor said. "His words have been -- to me -- very unclear about where he really is on his original unilateral 16-month withdrawal proposal from Iraq."
McCain foreign policy adviser Randy Scheunemann joined the call as well, issuing the following rebuke of Obama: "Words do matter. And Sen. Obama's words have left a significant question as to exactly what he intends. If he is now joining Senator McCain's position, and saying that the need to maintain peace and stability in Iraq is a prerequisite before responsible withdrawal, which is Senator McCain's position -- we welcome his conversion to that position. But that's significantly different from the position he's had in the past, which is an irresponsible withdrawal, disregarding the advice of commanders in the field and irrespective of conditions on the ground."
