40 Years Since RFK

It was 40 years ago yesterday that Robert Kennedy was shot on the night he won the California Democratic primary. It was 40 years ago this morning that -- long before the Internet, of course -- most first heard the news.

Carl Cannon, now a veteran journalist, was a 14-year-old paperboy that morning delivering the San Francisco Chronicle that had gone to press before the news of Kennedy had broken. In an interesting blog post today, Cannon recalls that morning when he had to knock on the doors of every home on his route and read a note that his father, Lou Cannon, a newspaperman (and later, Reagan biographer), passed along detailing what had happened.
