In the Headlines:
"Clinton to end candidacy and announce support for Obama" (Jill Lawrence, USA Today) - In the end, it took less than 24 hours for Hillary Rodham Clinton to adapt to her party's new political order.
"For Obama, the pros and cons of picking Clinton" (Associated Press) - Memo to Barack Obama: Now that you've named three people to help you pick a running mate, they surely will list the pros and cons of Hillary Rodham Clinton. And no doubt some kibitzers will do the same without your encouragement.
"Potential Shifts in Mideast Policy Outlined" (Jay Solomon, Wall Street Journal) - A day after securing enough delegates for the Democratic nomination, Barack Obama outlined major shifts in U.S. Middle East strategy he would make if he is elected president, offering his most detailed foreign-policy address to date.
"McCain Proposes 10 Joint Forums" (Michael Shear, Washington Post) - Republican Sen. John McCain challenged his Democratic rival, Sen. Barack Obama, on Wednesday to a series of 10 joint town hall meetings, starting next week in New York, saying voters deserve "a new tenor" in presidential campaigns.
On the Morning Shows:
Good Morning America - Mary Matalin, on Obama's chances in November: "He is an elitist, they've never won as an elitist...It really is a policy contrast, particularly in this election cycle. On policy, he's very shallow. Conservative identification is as high as it's ever been and that's what the Republicans are going to be weighing on."
Today - Ed Rendell on whether Obama will pick Clinton for VP: "The biggest con is that Obama has talked about changing Washington from the beginning and how do you reconcile that?"
Bill Richardson on whether Obama will pick Clinton: "She obviously should be on the shortlist. I think the fact that Obama represents change, bringing people together, Senator Clinton is part of the Washington themes that Obama is running against."
