Obama's Moment?

Every campaign has a few defining moments. In 2004, one of those moments turned out to be John Kerry's "I voted for the $87billion before I voted against it comment," which the Bush campaign used to thrash him for months as a flip flopper.

Could one of this year's defining moments be Obama's promise to meet, without preconditions in the first year of his administration, with the world's worst tyrants and dictators including Mahmoud Ahmadinejad?

The Obama campaign has been trying to walk that statement back for months saying it was taken out of context, despite the fact Obama subsequently reiterated his promise to meet directly with Ahmadinejad. Now Obama has "qualified" his position as well.

Will Obama's repositioning be the end of it? Not if the McCain campaign has anything to do with it. Only time will tell if they'll be able to make this Obama's "I was for meeting with Ahmadinejad before I was against it" moment.
