The Morning Roundup

Fox News's "Fox and Friends"

Florida Gov. Charlie Crist, on Edwards' timing: "Anytime is a good time to get good endorsements. ... What [Obama] talked about last night, he's concerned about poverty, aren't we all." On why he's pushing delegates to be seated: "I'm pushing hard because I believe in democracy. ... I want to make sure that every one of those citizens who took the time and the trouble in record numbers to turn out in our presidential primary." On Bill Clinton's comments about counting votes in Florida: "It is surprising to see what's happened. You'd think that the Democratic Party that talks about not disenfranchising any voters -- you know the 2000 election was not that long ago. ... And the notion that the Democratic National Committee is not wanting to seat these delegates is astounding." On McCain saying global warming is his No. 1 priority: "It's doing the right thing. ... It's extremely important to understand that what you want to do is try to be good stewards of the land."

MSNBC's "Morning Joe"

Former Rep. Harold Ford, on Obama's strategy following his big West Virginia loss: "Obama's got to think long, hard and carefully about how and what he does in Kentucky. My advice, get in there, campaign, roll up your sleeves and work hard." On GOP "brand damage": "When you consider the first three congressional elections this year...Here's the reality, the country wants change and a new direction. [Republicans] used Barack Obama's face, they distorted and lied about his message, and the Democrat still won by almost 10 points. The playbook that all these Republicans have used...they're liberals, they're out of touch, they're going to grow government, they're going to raise your taxes...Democrats said wait a minute, we want change. This has to bode well for Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton and the Democratic Party."

Obama communications director Robert Gibbs, on when the decision of timing came: "They obviously have talked fairly regularly for months now. On Tuesday night Senator Obama talked to Senator Edwards, they talked about a number of things...They talked about Tuesday night, and Senator Obama asked Senator Edwards for his support. Senator Edwards agreed to endorse him and come to Michigan yesterday. ... This was obviously something they had been discussing for quite some time; we were just fortunate that it happened yesteday, it happened in such an important state like Michigan."

ABC's "Good Morning America"

James Carville on how much the Edwards endorsement helps Obama: "It certainly helps in terms of psychology of the super delegates, I think Kentucky will give a pretty good indication of how much if any Edwards' endorsement helps...I'm not sure how much it's going to translate into votes...West Virginia totals were pretty awesome for Clinton...Senator Obama decided he didn't want to face her in [Michigan and Florida], I don't think that's the way to do this."

NBC's "TODAY"

Andrea Mitchell on the timing of the Edwards endorsement: "Just when she was trying to get back on her feet, Clinton had the rug pulled from under her...This was the moment Clinton hoped would not happen..." On Edwards helping with super delegates: "Possibly adding 18 to his stockpile."

Chuck Todd: "The stage craft of this really did just step on Senator Clinton, she didn't even get 24 hours to bask in the glory of her victory. It really signals this is Obama's party, he calls the shots." Todd said it will be interesting to see if Edwards campaigns in Kentucky, otherwise "it doesn't do all that much five days from now."
