Raising Expectations?

Is it wise for Hillary to be conflating Tuesday's primaries? There's a lot of speculation that if the day goes ill, she could be out. One would then think that Hillary might prefer to play it safe. But today in North Carolina -- a state Hillary is not expected to win -- the candidate is talking big:

"This primary election on Tuesday is a game changer. This is going to make a huge difference in what happens going forward. The entire country -- probably even a lot of the world is looking to see what North Carolina decides."

True, part of that is just making voters feel good. But the reason campaigns play the expectations game is limit the damage of a loss. Saying that the eyes of the world are upon North Carolina is not exactly the way one goes about minimizing damage.

Then again, Clinton has made up a lot of ground in North Carolina.
