Americans Are Not Happy

A new Gallup poll, conducted March 6-9, shows just 32% of Americans approve of the job President Bush is doing and 21% approve of Congress.

Bush's approval rating has remained about even since the beginning of the year, and has been below 40% since September 2006. Congress's approval rating is close to its all-time low of 18%, which it reached in 1992, as well as August of last year.

Another Gallup poll, conducted March 6-9, shows only 19% of Americans are satisfied with the way things are going in the country. The number of both Democrats and Republicans stating they were satisfied dropped by about 50% since January 2007, and the overall satisfaction numbers have been in decline since September 2005.
