Hillary Mentions Dream Team - Again

For the second time this week, Hillary Clinton spoke about a possible unity ticket:
"I've had people say, 'Well I wish I could vote for both of you. Well, that might be possible some day. But first I need your vote on Tuesday."
That's very much in line with Hillary's statement earlier this week, that the race could be headed toward unity. Obama swiftly rejected the idea. So does Hillary keep mentioning a unity ticket for Obama to knock it back down in an effort to look conciliatory? Who knows, and certainly Wolfson's comparison of Obama to Ken Starr doesn't speak well of reconciliation. But you say these things -- not once, but twice -- for a reason.
Then there are Clinton backer Pa. Gov. Ed Rendell's comments Thursday:
"I think it's important that it be offered, and if the loser doesn't accept, I think the loser can say why," Rendell told the National Journal's Ron Brownstein. "You know, obviously, I'd love to see a Clinton/Obama ticket. But if Senator Obama won, I think his offering it to Senator Clinton would be a great gesture.
"I'm not sure she would take it, I'm not sure he would take it," Rendell also said. "But either way, I think that it would be good if the offer were made."
Off-the-cuff? Strategically placed? Again, who knows?
