Bill Clinton Press Conference

Via The Page, Bill Clinton held a press conference in Columbia, SC, today and continued the attack on Obama:
Q. "Is Obama running against you, or Hillary Clinton or both of you?"
A. "Oh, I don't know, I thought he was running against me for a while there in Nevada when he said that Republicans had most of the new ideas and you had to challenge the conventional wisdom of the '90s. I thought we challenged the conventional wisdom of the 90s."
Which makes me think that Obama's Reagan comment to the Reno Gazette Journal, though clearly sound, gave the Clintons a major opening. Obama was trying to make the comparison between what Reagan did for expanding the Republican base in the 1980s with the "Reagan Democrats" with what he would do with "Obama Republicans." Not a bad analogy, except that he opened himself up to talking about the Clinton years, and the mythology behind those years that things were better than they are now. In other words, Obama let the Clintons talk about the past when he should always be focused on the future.
