National Poll: Black Support On Dem Side Has Shifted

In the new CNN/Opinion Research poll, black support among Democratic voters has significantly shifted since October from Clinton to Obama; essentially, 26% of support has changed hands. Clinton's 57% support from blacks in October shrunk to 31%, as Obama's 33% support rose to 59%.

Clinton still leads overall, as does McCain on the Republican side.

Democrats (Jan. 14-17, 448 Dem RV, MoE +/- 4.5%)

Clinton 42 (-7 vs. last poll, Jan. 9-10)
Obama 33 (-3)
Edwards 17 (+5)

Clinton holds an 8.2 point lead in the RCP National Average

Republicans (Jan. 14-17, 377 GOP RV, MoE +/- 5%)

McCain 29 (-5 vs. last poll, Jan. 9-10)
Huckabee 20 (-1)
Romney 19 (+5)
Giuliani 14 (-4)
Thompson 9 (+3)
Paul 6 (+1)

McCain holds an 8.9-point lead in the RCP National Average
