Playtime is Over

The Obama campaign had better put away the bubbly and hunker down, because things are going to get rough quickly. Clinton may not be authentic but she's tough as nails, and while her campaign hasn't been able to find an answer to the Obama riddle thus far, no one disagrees that they are smart, disciplined, and ruthless when necessary. Right now it's very necessary.

Look for Clinton to draw the kind of sharp contrasts she largely shied away from in Iowa. In the closing days of the Iowa campaign Clinton took to telling voters that they didn't need to "take a leap of faith" in supporting her - a formulation not too dissimilar from Bill Clinton's "roll the dice" comment to Charlie Rose a few weeks back.

Expect Clinton to hone in on that line with more seriousness and urgency and wrap it in a national security context now that Obama's victory has truly legitimized his chances of being the next Commander in Chief.
