Seeing is Believing - Figuratively Speaking, Of Course.

Mitt Romney's defense of his claim that he "saw" his dad march with Dr. Martin Luther King (an event which it appears may not have occurred) is raising unfavorable comparisons with the master-parser himself, Bill Clinton:
If you look at the literature or look at the dictionary the term "saw," includes being aware of in the sense that I've described. It's a figure of speech and very familiar, and it's very common, and I saw my dad march with Martin Luther King. I did not see it with my own eyes, but I saw him in the sense of being aware of his participation in that great effort.
If Romney has a core vulnerability, it's slipperiness. This story refocuses the public's attention on that vulnerability at a most inopportune time as the race heads into a Christmas freeze and will then reheat with only a week or so to go until the Iowa caucuses.
UPDATE: Here is the YouTube, via Matthew Continetti, who says "Watching Romney spin is like watching M.C. Escher in action. It borders on the surreal."
