One Small, Ungracious Point on 'The Speech'

I know I'm like three news cycles behind already, but this line in Romney's speech stuck out:
Some believe that such a confession of my faith will sink my candidacy. If they are right, so be it. But I think they underestimate the American people. Americans do not respect believers of convenience.
Americans tire of those who would jettison their beliefs, even to gain the world.
Rhetorically, it's a wonderful passage. But for Romney -- a candidate who has been accused of playing the politics of convenience -- it's an invitation to his rivals to criticize, if they choose to do so.
