New CBS News poll on the Dems (Oct 12-16, 440 Dem Primary Voters) showing - surprise! - Hillary Clinton extending her lead over Obama and Edwards in a three-way race:
Clinton 51 (+8 vs. last poll in September)
Obama 23 (+1)
Edwards 13 (-3)
When Gore is added to the mix, he shoots right into a strong second place:
Clinton 37
Gore 32
Obama 16
Edwards 7
Other notables: Clinton has stronger support among Democratic primary voters than Obama. 64% of Democratic primary voters strongly support Clinton, while 47% strongly support Obama. Clinton also has higher favorable ratings than Obama among Democratic primary voters. Her net fav/unfav rating is +57 (72/15) versus Obama's +43 (56/13).
However, among ALL registered voters, 24% say they "definitely will" vote for Hillary Clinton, 21% say they will consider voti9ng for her, but more than a third (36%) say they "definitely will not" vote for Clinton. This last group includes 74% of Republicans, 6% of Democrats, and 29% of Indpendents.
