Party On

A gem of a blog post from Rich Karlgaard:

Whoa!

Just one hour ago, I was tossing back mondo glasses of chardonnay with boss Steve Forbes, Forbes Asia President Will Adamopoulos, colleagues Kendall Crolius and Cecilia Zeche, and Forbes columnist Ken Fisher and wife Sherri on the top floor of the Ritz Carlton Millenia in Singapore.

Lovely view of Singapore. We were in high celebration. We had just completed the seventh annual Forbes Global CEO Forum. This one was, by far, the best Forbes Forum yet. More than 30 Asian billionaires turned up. So did more than 200 CEOs, Nobel Prize winners and the prime ministers of Singapore and Malaysia.

A high-class crowd. Not a single Forbes delegate pronounced APAC as OPEC. Not one confused Australia with Austria. We were blessed to be free of such fools.

Then, at 7 p.m. local time, our party room on the 32nd floor at the Ritz began to shake. Big shake. We shook. We rocked. We rolled. We pitched. We swayed.

"Earthquake," said Ken Fisher.

We ordered more drinks.

Six minutes later, somebody in our crowd Googled her BlackBerry and read the news. "A 7.9 earthquake near Jakarta."

We ordered more drinks.

Somewhere along the line, after way too much shaking and compensatory drinking, I forgot what I was supposed to blog about today.
