New SC Poll

A new poll in South Carolina conducted by Clemson University (Aug 20-29, 400 Dem LV, 400 GOP LV). On the Democratic side, Clinton leads Obama by ten:

Clinton 26
Obama 16
Edwards 10
Gore 8
Biden 2
Undecided 35

Of particular note, 40% of the sizable African-American vote remains undecided, and Obama is running five points closer to Clinton among black Democrats in South Carolina, trailing her 23% to 28%.

Clinton's lead in the RCP Average for South Carolina is now 11.6%.

On the Republican side, the newly announced Fred Thompson is sitting pretty in a first place tie with Giuliani and the highest favorable ratings of anyone in the field:

Overall, Giuliani's lead over Thompson in the RCP Average for South Carolina dipped to just 3.3%.
