Senator Barack Obama sat down with Jon Stewart last night. First impression: Obama's a fan of the show, and has actually watched it. During the first few questions, Obama seemed to be laughing too much, as someone does when they first see a favorite comedian.

Obama aced the big test: Don't try to out-funny the funnyman. His one joke -- invading a smaller country to earn experience -- went over well, and he seemed relaxed in a shirt and coat, but no tie.

Once he got into his grove, he started the stump speech and won big applause from the audience. Stewart gave Obama two segments instead of one, as usual.

Best line: "It's always a shock to the system when, Sunday morning, you wake up and you're face-to-face with Mike Gravel."
