President Bush delivered a speech on Iraq at the Veterans of Foreign Wars convention in Kansas City today.

Barack Obama released a statement on the president's speech, saying, "The disastrous consequences described by President Bush are already in motion and are a direct result of a war that should never have been authorized."

Hillary Clinton called for Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al Maliki's resignation today.

The newly-formed group Freedom's Watch launched a five-week, $15 million ad campaign designed to increase support for the surge. The ads can be viewed here.

Meanwhile, 14 U.S. soldiers in Iraq died today when their helicopter went down.

Michigan's Senate approved a Jan. 15 primary date. The House could vote as early as next week. Marc Ambinder has more.

In response, John Edwards said he'll ignore whatever sanctions the DNC might place on Michigan or other states that move up their primaries. Edwards also blasted Clinton for saying the surge is "working."

While everyone else was discussing Iraq, Mitt Romney was talking health-care and announced his "health-care policy advisory group."
