FOX News is reporting that the shuttle Endeavour just completed its deorbit burn, meaning its damaged underbelly held up in the extreme heat caused by reentering the atmosphere.
Endeavour is scheduled to land at 12.32 EST. Here's NASA's "Landing Blog" confirming the good news.
Correction: Wrote a bit too soon. Endeavour is hitting the atmosphere right about now (12:01 EST). The deorbit burn occurs beforehand. So the shuttle isn't out of danger quite yet.
