Obama Corrects the Record

Ben Smith has some video of Barack Obama explaining his Pakistan-centric foreign policy in Iowa yesterday. As Smith notes, judging from this question, voters seem to have taken away from last week's speech that Obama advocated an invasion of Pakistan. Obama attempts to correct the record:
Obama wants to blame this one on the media, but this is what happens when you want a foreign-policy speech to generate headlines. If Obama just got up there and said something generic like "I will hunt down bin Laden," we wouldn't still be talking about it a week later. But Obama got up there and said, "If we have actionable intelligence about high-value terrorist targets and President Musharraf won't act, we will."
Whatever that means in execution, Obama and his folks should have known that the media would -- for the sake of selling newspapers -- at the very least suggest that Obama supports violating Pakistani sovereignty to get al Qaeda, which is a mouthfull. Invasion just slides off the tongue.
