Both Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton have released long-form videos of them sitting down with regular people today: Obama with grassroots supporters talking about regular life, Clinton with Iowans talking about Iraq.

Clinton sent a 10-minute video about Iraq to Iowa voters on DVD. This is an advertisement that has Clinton center stage and has voters in a supporting role, telling viewers they agree with her in side interviews. It features cameos by a retired general, veterans, Tom Vilsack and Joe Wilson.

Whereas Clinton used this ad to get a specific policy message out and have it seen as receptive among voters, Obama used his video to play to his strength of likability by having dinner with four grassroots voters.

Both are reinforcing their best attributes (Clinton's experience, Obama's likability) and seemed to have done it well.
