New CA Poll: Clinton, Guiliani Lead

New 2008 poll in California by the Survey and Policy Research Institute at San Jose State University:

Democrats
Clinton 37
Obama 15
Edwards 15

Republicans
Giuliani 25
Thompson 16
McCain 14
Romney 5

Other notable numbers from the poll among registered voters:

* 30% said "things in the country are generally going in the right direction" while 63% say they are "seriously off on the wrong track."

* 47% say the war in Iraq has made us "less safe," and 67% say it was "not worth going" to war.

* President Bush's approval ratings are: overall job 24%, handling of economy 34%, handling of Iraq 22%, handling of terrorism 40%.

* 62% of voters in California do not believe "what President Bush tells the American people is true."
