The AP is reporting that the Bush administration is nearing a decision on whether to close down the terrorist detention center at Guantanamo Bay.

According to FEC filings, the Republican National Committee has raised $75.8 million and the Democratic has raised $73.2 million through the end of May, although Democrats hold a 3-to-2 cash-on-hand advantage.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is "unsure" whether he will vote for the immigration bill, because it might not be "an improvement over the status quo." McConnell's hesitancy could boost the hopes of "rebel" Republicans looking to kill the bill.

Stuart Rothenberg is reporting that Democratic hopes of picking up two Senate seats are looking much better now that former Sen. Bob Kerrey is considering a run for Sen. Chuck Hagel's Nebraska seat (should he retire) and former New Hampshire Gov. Jeanne Shaheen is thinking about a rematch with Sen. John Sununu, to whom she had narrowly lost in 2002.
