Scandal plagued Republican Governor Ernie Fletcher capped a remarkable political comeback by soundly defeating his challengers in yesterday's primary. Fletcher received 50% of the vote, followed by Anne Northup at 36%, and Billy Harper at 13%.
Fletcher will now face Steve Beshear, who avoided a run off in the Democratic primary by the narrowest of margins, eking out 41% of the vote over Bill Lunsford (21.4%), Stephen Henry (17.5%), and Jody Richards (13.1%).
