A lot of news from Newt Gingrich today: Radio Iowa reports he will be at the Ames, Iowa straw poll held on August 11, though not to campaign for himself but to push his American Solutions project. Gingrich also plans to visit the Iowa State Fair, which would put him in close proximity to the straw poll. The fair starts on August 9 and is a 40-minute drive from Ames in Des Moines -- just the right distance and time from the straw poll to make his presence felt.

Meanwhile, the folks at the Omaha World-Herald recorded two interviews with Newt Gingrich during his Iowa "book tour" yesterday and an excerpt of applause-punctuated speech on immigration. The interviews are:
