New Iowa Poll: Romney Up, Richardson In

A new Iowa poll from Selzer & Co. in today's Des Moines Register shows interesting developments for both parties. On the Republican side, the poll has Mitt Romney surging ahead of the rest of the field, though it's worth noting that the poll did not include either Fred Thompson or Newt Gingrich in the horserace question:

Republicans
Romney 30
McCain 18
Giuliani 17

Overall, McCain is practically tied with Romney, holding only a 0.2-point lead in the RCP Average.

On the Democratic side, Edwards continues to lead the field and Bill Richardson makes another strong showing:

Democrats
Edwards 29
Obama 23
Clinton 21
Richardson 10

Edwards continues to lead in the RCP Average by 3.0 points.
