Brownback Camp: Rudy Wrong On Abortion

Two weeks after Sam Brownback said he could support a Republican nominee who is not pro-life, his campaign is going after Rudy Giuliani for his pro-choice stance.
In an e-mail sent to supporters yesterday evening, Brownback's South Carolina chair David Barron said Giuliani was wrong on abortion. "Senator Brownback is a true believer that there is no 'choice' involved in life-or-death matters -- we must always stand up for protecting innocent human life." The e-mail goes on to tell readers that Giuliani's comments have been praised by the president of the Planned Parenthood Action Fund. Last week President Cecile Richards gave Giuliani positive marks after his Houston speech where he maintained his pro-choice stance.
Barron closes by telling supporters they must save the party and the movement from Giuliani: "The pro-life movement has grown by leaps and bounds over the last few years. Public opinion is turning to our side, the Supreme Court recently upheld a national ban on an abortion procedure, and the Republican Party has grown increasingly pro-life, as have the candidates it nominates for public office. This is NOT the time to turn back in our efforts to make America a country that respects life. As Republicans, we should not compromise or apologize for that. ... Together, we will keep our Republican Party proudly pro-life."
Brownback will be in Michigan today where we'll see if he continues his criticism of Giuliani.
