Backlash Leads to Pullback on Cho Video

With a backlash developing against the media for airing sickening pictures from Virginia Tech shooter Cho Seung-Hui, Fox News Channel said Thursday it would stop and other networks said they would severely limit their use.

Here is Shepard Smith a few hours ago on FOX announcing the decision:

We've decided as an organization at Fox News across all of our platforms including Internet and here on television not to include those pictures anymore, the pictures that were sent to NBC News and have been broadcast here and elsewhere for the past 18 hours or so.

It's our belief as an editorial group at Fox News that we've shown them long enough for people to make their own decisions about what they think about them and we will not use them anymore. Of course if some sort of news comes out of those tapes at some point we reserve the right to put them back on the air, but for now they're off our air.
