Ben Smith pays more penance for getting the Edwards story wrong earlier today. The Politico has done a decent job of handling the mistake, especially for a fledgling news organization seeking to build off of the reputation of its reporters.

But as far as reporting mistakes go, Smith's was a doozy, though in recent memory this one still clearly takes the cake (and, coincidentally, also involved Edwards):
